This may be especially helpful if you are coming from over seas to stay for a while. we see a number of families from Germany, the Netherlands and other areas over seas that have read things about visiting Florida and have maybe gotten some bad advice. we will try to clear things up for you here and now.
The Bermuda triangle…fact and fiction
Many people have been going on cruises lately and the most traveled cruise destination is out of the Port of Miami to the Caribbean. With three to seven day cruises leaving from Miami almost daily from nearly every cruise line it is a busy port and water way.The islands call and people answer looking for a relaxing way to get away from it all. But there is an area in the middle of all the excitement that holds a very murky past and a lot of truth and legend to it.
ParrotHeads….what the hell are they?
The term is throw around a lot when it comes to Jimmy Buffett fans. But where did it come from and how did it start? The truth to the story may not be as exciting as actually being one and participating. The term “Parrothead” was coined at a concert in Cincinnati when Jimmy was commenting on all the various forms of dress the fans had showed up in. The typical aloha shirts, fin hats, parrot hats and hula skirts, etc. he looked out at the crowd and mentioned it is great having fans like the Grateful Dead who were so dedicated to the music and lifestyle. Timothy B. Schmidt who was in Jimmy’s band the Coral Reefers at the time them mentioned maybe they should be called “Parrotheads” and the term stuck. Since then the term has evolved some.
To Cruise or Not Cruise
To cruise or not to cruise that is the question. With so many choices and cruise lines out there the choices are almost endless…..or are they? Cruising has been getting a bad rap lately with news stories of sinking boats, virus outbreaks, passengers coming up missing, staff stealing mobile phones and more. So why would someone WANT to go on a cruise? The answer is simple, it allows you to see a number of ports and places for a cheaper price often than if you visited each place individually. Not only that but it is mostly an all inclusive vacation with meals and most activities included.

Tropical Weddings – Things to consider
If you are like us (and we are guessing you wouldn’t be reading this if you weren’t) tropical beach weddings seem like a dream wedding. For those of you who have had a tropical beach wedding this can be true with a little planning. There is nothing like saying “I do” with a little sand between your toes. Since there are an abundance of articles on the net about beach weddings we thought we would offer some helpful tips and things to think about when planning your tropical beach wedding to ensure that everything is “perfect”.
If you blew out your flip flop read this…..
The weather is turning warmer earlier everywhere. It’s time to stretch those toes and get that flip flop tan line…….but wait! Before you do that and slip on those old flip flops that hurt your calves or shins or the soul of your feet every year, it’s time to end the pain. Not all sandals, flip flops, flats…whatever you call them….are created equal. Sure you knew this and sure you are willing to settle for the $4.99 special at Walgreens. Why would you do that and go through 5, 10 maybe even 15 pair of those by the end of the year? Why would you buy something that causes you pain in your legs, feet and back every year if you have to do any sustained walking from parking the car to the beach? This year should be different because you have worked hard for this vacation and earned it.
Does the Tropical Lifestyle Automatically Make You a “Parrot Head”?
So you love the tropical lifestyle, the vibe, the clothing, the food, the drinks, the music, the people, the feeling of just knowing where ever you go there are those who share similar interests and that laid back attitude. But does this make you a Parrot Head? Those not familiar with the tropical lifestyle and attitude would automatically say “yes”, but that is not always the case. Believe it or not, there are those that love the islands and the lifestyle it brings but have no interest in Jimmy Buffett or his music. Some are content with just the lifestyle without the traditional music associated with it or the “attitude” associated with the Parrot Head side of it.
